Fred & Vicki | A Winter Elopement on Chicago’s Coldest Day
On December 12, 2024, Fred and Vicki got married on what might’ve been the coldest day in Chicago’s history. After saying their vows, we bundled up and headed to the Art Institute for photos, dodging icy sidewalks and laughing through the chill.
What made their day unforgettable was how they brought meaning to every tradition. Vicki put her own spin on “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in your shoe,” and it was perfect:
Old: Her grandfather’s watch, a simple, beautiful way to keep her family close.
New: A chic fascinator that honored Fred’s British roots.
Borrowed: Fred’s family signet ring, full of history and legacy.
Blue: A silk scarf inspired by Taiwanese pottery, a nod to Vicki’s heritage.
Sixpence: A vintage coin sent by Fred’s dad, tying everything together.
It was freezing, but these two didn’t care. They were fully in the moment—laughing, holding hands, and making the city feel a little warmer just by being together.
Winter weddings aren’t for everyone, but Fred and Vicki made it look effortless. Their day was small, meaningful, and completely theirs.
